From 16 to August 30, 2011, the City saw tango with Tango Buenos Aires Festival and 2011 World Cup, which Argentina is a classic.
Organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, This tournament is the most important international event dedicated to the Tango danced. The World Dance Festival and the event is the greatest international impact tango. Thousands of dancers and audiences around the world come to the City to participate and experience the various activities offered at this event that the date has already enshrined in August.
The event takes place in three stages: Qualifying, Semi and Final, each of which is evaluated by a qualified jury. In the semifinal stage winning couples joined in previous competitions held in cities across the country and the world. The Final is a great festival with the participation of the most important figures of the tango in an event each year is increasing its mass.
Tango Buenos Aires synthesizes a passion that increases year after year his followers not only in Argentina but also in the world and strengthens the commitment to the historical and projected growth of Tango in all its expressions.
The growth projection and importance of Tango in the world has achieved such magnitude that in December 2009 was declared the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by the Intergovernmental Committee of UNESCO. Similarly, and since February 2010, the Tango has an official and exclusive room in the City of Buenos Aires: the "Teatro de la Ribera" in the neighborhood of La Boca. There all the programming is devoted exclusively to the music of Buenos Aires, with milongas, shows, classes and exhibitions.
