2011 Pre-Olympic Basketball Tournament - Argentina - Mar del Plata - Tourism

The basketball Pre-Olympic tournament is the first step in order to qualify for the 2012 Olympics games. The 2011 edition will be held in the beautiful city of Mar del Plata. This show will surely be the last chance to see the golden generation of Argentine Basketball, live at our country, this is a must-see event.

The competition will be developed in the Islas Malvinas Stadium in Mar del Plata on August 30th to September 11^th, with the participation of ten male teams on the continent.

In the first phase will confront each team against all the teams, divided in two groups of five teams each. The top four from each group go on to the next round (quarterfinals), where they will play four games against other ranked the other group. The quarterfinal round will be played on September 1st to 4th. The first four in the standings will classify directly to the 2012 Basketball World Championship. The semifinals will be played on 

September 5^th.

Preolímpico de Basquet 2011 - Argentina - Mar del Plata - Turismo

El Preolímpico de Básquet, clasificatorio para los Juegos Olímpicos de 2012, se desarrollará en la ciudad de Mar del Plata.
Seguramente será la última oportunidad para ver a la generación dorada del Basquet Argentino en vivo en nuestro país, por esto es un evento imperdible.

La competencia se desarrollara en el Estadio Islas Malvinas de Mar del Plata del 30 de agosto al 11 de septiembre, con la participación de diez selecciones mayores masculinas del continente.

En la primera fase se miden todos contra todos en dos grupos de cinco equipos cada uno. Los mejores cuatro de cada grupo pasan a la siguiente ronda (cuartos de final), donde jugarán cuatro partidos contra los demás clasificados del otro grupo. La ronda de cuartos de final se jugará del 1 al 4 de septiembre. Los primeros cuatro en la tabla de posiciones de los cuartos de final pasan a las semifinales y clasifican directamente al Mundial de Basquet del 2012. La semifinal se jugará el 5 de septiembre y la final el próximo día.

Caverna de las Brujas - Connecting with nature is possible - Argentina - Tourism

La Caverna de las Brujas, is located 70 kilometers away from the city of Malargue and Las Leñas, in the vicinity of Bardas Blancas, in the province of Mendoza. More than 1,800 meters above sea level.

More than 10,000 people visit it attempting to connect with nature and the legends of this place. The tour starts at the impressive entrance of 1.80 m. high by eight wide. Once inside, the dark, perceived the smell of damp and history.

La Caverna de las Brujas features three levels of main corridors. At the intermediate level is the most popular tour, which extends almost horizontally over the entrance and has a length of approximately 200 m. In this corridor is developed the tourist circuit.

The high level takes place in an almost horizontal but 20 m above the first. The third row consists of passages that go down to 20 m below the first. Other sectors are virtually impassable due to its narrowness.

The trip may take several hours, while visitors will be amazed at the wonders. Anyway, for those who fear the darkness of the cave, has installed a lighting system of 29 lights in a distance of 400 meters.

Until now has been achieved 5,000 meters of galleries, but it remains to reach the never-know end of the maze….

Caverna de las Brujas - Conectarse con la naturaleza es posible - Argentina - Turismo

La Caverna de las Brujas, está ubicada a 70 kilómetros de la ciudad de Malargüe, en las cercanías de Bardas Blanca, en la provincia de Mendoza. A más de 1.800 metros sobre el nivel del mar. 

Más de 10.000 personas la visitan intentando conectarse con la naturaleza y las leyendas del lugar. El recorrido comienza en la impactante entrada de 1,80 m. de altura por unos ocho de ancho. Ya en el interior, y a oscuras, se percibe el olor a humedad y a historia. 

La Caverna de las Brujas presenta tres niveles de corredores principales. En el nivel intermedio se encuentra el recorrido más conocido, que se extiende casi horizontalmente con respecto a la entrada y tiene una longitud de aproximadamente 200 m. En este corredor se desarrolla el circuito turístico. 

El nivel alto se desarrolla en forma casi horizontal pero 20 m por encima del primero. El tercer corredor está constituido por pasadizos que descienden a 20 m por debajo del primero. Existen otros sectores que resultan prácticamente intransitables debido a su estrechez. 

El recorrido puede durar varias horas, mientras que el visitante se sorprenderá con las maravillas que su linterna los deje ver. De todas maneras, para los que temen a la oscuridad de la caverna, se ha instalado un sistema lumínico de 29 lámparas en un recorrido de unos 400 metros. 

Hasta el momento se ha logrado recorrer 5.000 metros de galerías, pero queda mucho aún para llegar al final de los laberintos que tiene. De todas maneras hay sectores prohibidos para los visitantes.

Meet El Chalten in winter season - Enchanted woods - Argentina - Tourism

During the winter season, the little and amazing town of El Chalten is ready to receive tourists from all over the world, especially for those who want to enjoy different landscapes, with orange forests in autumn and snowy in winter. Lago del desierto (Desert Lake) is located 37 km away from El Chalten, and offers a unique landscape during all the way until you reach the water surface. From there you can walk to Huemul glacier, 1 hr walk. This last part you will have do it on foot.

Snowshoeing excursion

According to the physical condition of the passengers, weather and visibility, this fun activity options are:

Mirador del Cerro Torre: It goes back to the Fitz Roy River, contemplating its canyons and transit through forested areas, up to the Mirador del Cerro Torre. Duration of tour 3 hours.

Mirador Fitz Roy & Laguna Capri: It requires a little more physical effort, because the first hour of walking is uphill. You will reach Mirador Fitz Roy at first and then the amazing Laguna Capri. Duration of trip 4 hours.

Chorrillo del Salto: This is the least demanding of the routes, you will reach an interesting waterfall about 12 meters high. During the winter it remains almost completely frozen. Duration of the trip: 2 hours.

The Laguna Capri, with a height of 200 meters, offers a fantastic view of the Fitz Roy Mount on a beautiful lake just two hours from El Chalten. This tour shares the first steps with the road to Laguna de los Tres, undoubtedly the most famous of all the walks. During the first hour, the slope is fairly steep until you enter into the Del Salto stream valley.

El Chaltén en invierno - Bosques encantados - Argentina - Turismo

En esta temporada invernal El Chaltén, está preparado para recibir aquellos turistas que desean disfrutar de paisajes distintos, con bosques color anaranjados por el otoño y mucha nieve durante el invierno.

Circuito Lago del Desierto: minibús ó 4 x 4

Este paseo propone transitar por la RP23 entrando en la cordillera misma, rodeado de bosques, cascadas y glaciares, es una de las alternativas más buscadas por nuestros visitantes.

El Lago del Desierto se encuentra a 37 km de El Chalten, y ofrece un paisaje único durante todo el trayecto, hasta llegar al espejo de agua antes mencionado. Desde alli se puede acceder caminando hasta el Glaciar Huemul, 1hs de caminata. Este último tramo a pie, se encuentra condicionado al estado del sendero.

Excursión con Raquetas de nieve

De acuerdo a la condición física de los pasajeros, clima y visibilidad, las opciones de esta divertida actividad son:

Mirador del Cerro Torre: Se remonta el río Fitz Roy, contemplando su cañadon y transitando por zonas boscosas, hasta llegar al Mirador del Cerro Torre. Duración de la excursión 3 hs.

Mirador del Fitz Roy, Laguna Capri: 

Requiere un poco mas de esfuerzo físico, ya que la primera hora es en subida. Se llega hasta el primer Mirador del Fitz Roy y a la Laguna Capri. Duración de la excursión 4 hs.

Chorrillo del Salto: Es el menos exigente de los recorridos, se llega a una interesante Cascada de unos 12 mts. En época invernal permanece congelada casi en su totalidad. Duración de la excursión 2 hs.

El sendero de Laguna Capri, con un desnivel de 200 metros, ofrece una fantástica vista del cerro Fitz Roy sobre una hermosa laguna a sólo dos horas de El Chaltén. Comparte el comienzo de su recorrido con el camino a Laguna De los Tres, sin duda la más famosa de todas las caminatas, al final de la avenida San Martín. Durante la primera hora, la pendiente es algo pronunciada hasta ingresar en el valle del arroyo Del Salto en dirección al monte Fitz Roy.

Los Glaciares National Park - A unique and incomparable experience - Argentina – Tourism

Los Glaciares National Park was created in order to preserve a large area of continental ices and glaciers of the Andean-Patagonian forest, and samples of the Patagonian steppe.

The protected area was designated as such in 1937. In 1971 the government established the law that defined the present boundaries and zoning as a national park and national reserve. UNESCO declared this place as a World Heritage Site of Humanity in 1981, due to its spectacular beauty, its glaciological and geomorphologic interest, and species of fauna in danger of extinction.

Its area is uo to 724,000 hectares located in the southwestern province of Santa Cruz on the border with Chile and the region known as the Southern Andes of Argentina.

Los Glaciares National Park comprises a highly particular scenario, full of mountains, lakes and forests, including a large portion of the Cordillera de los Andes fully ice covered.
Its name is due to the presence of numerous glaciers that originate in the Great Ice Field (the largest ice sheet in the world after the Antarctic), which occupies almost half of the park. With a total area of ​​approximately 2,600 km2, the so called "Patagonian Continental Ice", feeds 47 large glaciers, of which 13 fall into the Atlantic Basin. There are also more than 200 glaciers of lesser magnitude, independent of the Patagonian Icefield.

Although large ice masses are found on our planet at over 2500 meters above sea level (m) glaciers in the province of Santa Cruz have their origin at only 1500 meters of altitude and descend to 200 meters, allowing access and display unique in the world.

As a result of the melting of this vast system, two large lakes are originated: Lake Argentino and Lake Viedma, which flow into the Atlantic Ocean across the province through the Santa Cruz River. In the south of the park you will find the largest glacier known as the Perito Moreno  . This expands on the waters of the South Branch of Lago Argentino with a front of 5 km and a height of 60 meters above the lake. The nearest town to the glacier is El Calafate the epicenter of all activities and services.

At the other end of the Park lie the highest peaks with the most diverse granite forms of the southern Argentinean Mountains, which along with forests, glaciers and lakes are one of the most extraordinary spectacles of the country. The maximum height is Mount Fitz Roy or Chaltén (3405m) and Cerro Torre (3102 m). In such a scenario is the small town of El Chalten, which attracts many mountaineers and trekking enthusiasts.
