Ischigulasto is a natural and provincial park, also known as "Moon's Valley" because of the amazing diversity of forms and colours of its landscape shaped by erosion, is one of the worlds most important paleontologic sites and is located in Valle Frtil region, 330 km northeast of the city of San Juan.
The park is a paleontology reserve of great scientific value due to its representation of the most complete geographic examples of the Triasic Period of the Mesozoic Era in the world. The discovery of reptile fossils of the largest dinosaurs that lived between 225 and 250 million years ago has confirmed the value of Ischigualasto.
Ischigualasto was declared Natural Patrimony of Humanity by UNESCO in November 2000.
