Salta, near the pleasure - A number of proposals for the summer - Argentina - Tourism


A few kilometers away from the city of Salta, you will find a lot of attractions. Locations particularly attractive, summer villages, towns of a particulary nineteenth century architecture and picturesque landscapes that become imprinted on the retina of the traveler.

The Magic Mirror - Cabra Corral Dam
A place for adventure. Perhaps one of the most attractive and best prepared of Argentina is the General Belgrano Reservoir, better known by its popular name of Cabra Corral Dam. Located 65km from the city, 127km square of water await you at unbeatable under the green surrounding hills. This water, postal magic Salta, is the ideal place for alternative tourism and water sports.

The numbers indicate that Cabra Corral (the ancient Quechua Spanish name that gave the ancient inhabitants of the area) is the second largest reservoir in Argentina, in addition to the main water reservoir in northwestern Argentina. The number of visitors it receives each year indicates that it is a must for hiking enthusiasts and extreme water sports.

From sailing, water skiing and kayaking, to tours on jet skis or catamaran to the adventurous bungee jumping, zip line, water slide, or rafting in the rapids of the Rio Oath. Also this place offer you to combine fun with the observation of dinosaur tracks and fossil algae in the exploration of caves with cave paintings found in the nearby town of Guachipas.

In two hours, the "Place of Meetings", the "Painted Caves" are attractive to young and old. This is a series of overhangs with paintings dating from between 900 and 1470 AD. This tour is special for archaeological tourism enthusiasts, a classic in the northwest area.

For those who prefer something quieter, offer horseback riding and trekking appealing the mountains and hills bordering an unforgettable view of the lake (especially if you are lucky enough to stop and see the sunset from the heights). Fishing is very good at this shelter (mackerel, bream, catfish and shad). With expert guides and the right equipment, you can probably enjoy a trophy to take home or to enjoy after being cooked in one of the establishments located in proximity to the Dam.

Yacht clubs, fishing, several hotels and a dozen eating establishments await tourists with a wide range of options to suit your pocket as much as their taste.
