Meet El Chalten in winter season - Enchanted woods - Argentina - Tourism


During the winter season, the little and amazing town of El Chalten is ready to receive tourists from all over the world, especially for those who want to enjoy different landscapes, with orange forests in autumn and snowy in winter. This town is located close to el Calafate in Santa Cruz province.

Among the proposed activities, we remark :

Lago del Desierto Tour: minibus or 4 x 4: This tour offers to travel on the RP23 entering into the mountain of the Cordillera de los Andes surrounded by forests, waterfalls and glaciers. This is one of the most wanted alternatives asked by the visitors.
Lago del desierto (Desert Lake) is located 37 km away from El Chalten, and offers a unique landscape during all the way until you reach the water surface. From there you can walk to Huemul glacier, 1 hr walk. This last part you will have do it on foot.

Snowshoeing excursion

According to the physical condition of the passengers, weather and visibility, this fun activity options are:

Mirador del Cerro Torre: It goes back to the Fitz Roy River, contemplating its canyons and transit through forested areas, up to the Mirador del Cerro Torre. Duration of tour 3 hours.

Mirador Fitz Roy & Laguna Capri: It requires a little more physical effort, because the first hour of walking is uphill. You will reach Mirador Fitz Roy at first and then the amazing Laguna Capri. Duration of trip 4 hours.

Chorrillo del Salto: This is the least demanding of the routes, you will reach an interesting waterfall about 12 meters high. During the winter it remains almost completely frozen. Duration of the trip: 2 hours.

The Laguna Capri, with a height of 200 meters, offers a fantastic view of the Fitz Roy Mount on a beautiful lake just two hours from El Chalten. This tour shares the first steps with the road to Laguna de los Tres, undoubtedly the most famous of all the walks. During the first hour, the slope is fairly steep until you enter into the Del Salto stream valley.
